ENVIRONMENTAL INITIATIVES

Environmental initiatives

Over the years Nelen & Delbeke has undertaken many initiatives to safeguard the environment. We continue to use flax – a local, natural and sustainable material – as a core part of our weaving process.

We aim to manufacture as sustainably as possible, including producing our outdoor textiles with polypropylene that’s engineered to be recyclable.

For increased energy efficiency we’ve installed solar panels, our rain water tanks reduce water use, and we recycle plastic. What’s more, our production waste, such as yarn offcuts and dust, is reused as a fertiliser. And our old machinery is melted down for repurposing. We commit to doing our best to protect the environment today and for future generations.
